Come and See...
For some time I've been intrigued by Vineyard Central in Ohio. They are a self-titled "community of home churches," placing a high value on a shared, committed life together. They have some strong monastic leanings and even acquired an old catholic church. There also seems to be a down-to-earth-ness about them. The pastor, who I met once, also runs a body shop. You can read the church's story in more detail HERE (Cutting Edge Fall 2001).
I really think they've tapped into something that I resonate with. And I don't think it's a passing fad or something that is just cool or hip for a season. Also, I like that there doesn't seem to be a sense of arrogance about who they are or what they're doing, which can often happen with church's "outside the box."
Anyway, they're hosting a thing called "Come and See." I'm going to do just that. I'm hoping and praying that it'll be an encouraging and envisioning time. I'll let you know how it goes.
